For nearly 20 years in China, Indonesia, and Myanmar, I have worked with numerous clients across government, private sector, and global professional firms. During this period, Japanese companies expanded globally rapidly, and countries once considered developing nations and aid recipients have emerged as rising economies and key business partners or clients for Japan. Not only are they becoming more prominent as inbound tourists, but they are also increasingly visible as investors in Japan. This renewed interest from Western investors highlights a remarkable transformation from, the perspective of my long-experience in Asia.
When people, goods, and capital move across borders, tax issues inevitably arise. Often, tax risks can escalate beyond expectations, making the understanding, assessment, and governance of tax risks a critical issue for management. As global business becomes ever more complex, the need for tax professionals who understand international tax practice and work closely with clients is only growing.
I am honored to contribute to JTA Tax Corporation, a new venture with a strong purpose, and I am committed to supporting the growth and success of our clients’ businesses.
1994
Joined Sakura Bank (now Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation), with assignments in domestic branches and headquarters. After completing Chinese language training in Taiwan, worked at the Shanghai branch, providing support and guidance for Japanese companies entering the market.
2004
After studying in the UK, joined Creed Corporation and led overseas investment projects.
2006
Joined JICA Headquarters, in charge of private sector development with a focus on development of small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs)
2007
Joined JICA Indonesia Office, responsible for finance and private sector development.
2009
Joined PwC Indonesia as a member of the Japan Desk, supporting M&A and new subsidiary establishment projects for Japanese companies in the financial, manufacturing, and service industries. Provided support with transfer pricing and tax audits as well.
2012
At JICA Myanmar Office, promoted the Central Bank’s interbank settlement system project and worked on two-step loans for SMEs. Also participated in preparations for establishing the securities market.
2014
Rejoined PwC Indonesia, supporting new market entry and business restructuring for Japanese companies in sectors like finance, trading, and infrastructure.
2018
Promoted to Partner, leading Japanese client services as head of the Japan Business Desk.
2022
Transferred to PwC Japan as Partner, supporting Japanese companies with business expansion in ASEAN and India.
2024
Founded SynapseAsia LLC to bridge businesses between Asia and Japan from both inbound and outbound perspectives. In December, appointed as Senior Advisor at JTA Tax Corporation, to support Japanese companies’ expansion in Southeast Asia and inbound investment into Japan through strategic collaboration from a business perspective.
